Should I start over? It's been almost 10 years since my last entry. Time flies!
Let's continue...
Why am I back? I'm a Toastmaster and I needed to come up with a speech topic for tonight's Brewmeisters meeting. I needed something easy to put together in a couple of hours. I'm working on 3 paths now, so the easiest speech has to be the Ice Breaker. Even though I've been a member of Brewmeisters for almost 4 years, I've been absent for a bit. We have a few new members so it's time to introduce myself again. So I'm going to cover some of my passions... Eat... Drink... Puff...
Eat
While I love to eat, my metabolism doesn't like much of what I put into my body. So how do I
satisfy my tongue and tame my metabolism? Diet? Ugh!
satisfy my tongue and tame my metabolism? Diet? Ugh!
But, a couple of years ago I discovered The Daniel Plan and learned how to use spices to enhance the flavor of bland "healthy" food. That knowledge has now led me down the path to cooking at home.
While I love a good ribeye, I find that I'm moving away from red meat and exploring the world of veggies, fruit, poultry, and seafood. As I moved through The Daniel Plan to the Keto/Low-Carb to the WW diets, I've lost a lot of weight, and then gained it all back. But I've learned to cook. I'll explore more in a future post... I promise.
Drink
No more soda! Water is my preferred daytime drink. Very simple and thirst-quenching. But that's not what this blog is about.
Beer
I joined Brewmeisters because of my love of craft beer. We work on developing our communication and leadership skills while sampling a variety of tasty beer.
You'll learn more about what I've been drinking the last 10 years by checking out my profile on Untappd. I love reds, stouts, wee heavies, and anything barrel aged. Most of my previous posts are about my love of beer.
Wine
I am in another Toastmasters club, Cocoa Vino. Cocoa Vino is all about Wine and Chocolate. What better what to work on one's communication and leadership skills that enjoying a taste of wine and chocolate?
I'm not much of a chocolate person, but I love wine. I was lucky enough to visit a couple of wineries in Italy in 2019. Zisola Winery in Noto, Sicilia, Italia. I shipped home some great Nero d'Avola wine. A wonderful present waiting for me when I returned home.
In Montepulciano, Puru and Sudha Manvi welcomed us to Manvi Winery and of course, I couldn't resist shipping a few bottles home. During the pandemic, I ordered more and I'm still enjoying the fantastic Vino Nobile di Montepulciano wine today. Cin Cin!
Whiskey
This past year or so I've been exploring whiskey. More about that in another post, but I'm into affordable, non-peaty, non-smoky Scotch. My favorites are Scapa, Glen Fohdry, and Oban Little Bay.
Puff
I do love cigars and the great comradery of the Brotherhood of the Leaf. I miss the wonderful nights at 888 Cigar Lounge. The good news is that they have official reopened for business now that Orange County has moved to a new tier. The pandemic sucks.
So... If you put all of this together, you have a great night of food, drink, and cigars. Eat, Drink, and Puff.
Until next time....
